However, to realize the benefits of these new resources, companies need to change their internal paradigms with respect to talent and career development. This session will look at one company's journey to shift to a skills-based job strategy that seeks to connect the employees with the most critical skills gained from upskilling and reskilling to the critical opportunities that give the company a critical advantage. During the session, we will discuss how to leverage the skills employees gain from reskilling and upskilling to build a skills-based job strategy. Additionally, we will discuss once a job strategy is implemented, how to connect the learner to opportunities within the organization that leverage the employee's active skills. Event Objectives About Our Presenters Gretchen Ringer is the Director of Learning & Development at Leidos. Gretchen has over 25 years of experience in Human Resources in Technology and Government contracting companies. Her experience includes Strategic HR Business Partnership positions, generalist positions (both compensation and benefits), increases levels of leadership positions, organizational change management and the last 9 years focused on Talent Development with 6 years leading the Learning & Development function. In her role, Gretchen leads the Skills-Based Jobs Strategy and implementation across the organization. She has defined the enterprise Learning strategy and implemented the strategy to action. She plays a critical role in transforming the way we design Learning & Development programs, how we create, curate and deliver development experiences and how we use modern methods to deliver these experiences which includes defining and implementing the career development and onboarding experience for the enterprise Gretchen is providing service to her local talent development community as the Director of Program for the ATD Maryland Chapter. When she is not working, Gretchen is an avid marathon runner. Rob Hoitt, CPTD is a Sr. Talent Development Consultant with Leidos a Fortune 500 corporation specializing in federal services. A true “accidental trainer,” Rob came into learning and development after a decade working in the television broadcast industry, having worked at independent and network television stations. Through this rich experience, Rob has spent nearly 20 years in the learning and development industry specializing in leadership development and technical training. In addition to becoming one of the first people to attain the Associate Professional of Talent Development, and one of the first people to take and pass the new Certified Professional in Talent Development credentials, Rob graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arizona in 2021. Rob is also a contributor to the third edition of the ATD Handbook of Training & Talent Development. When he is not working with L&D, Rob serves as the Past President of the Appalachia Chapter of ATD, and is currently a member of the National Advisors for Chapters. Rob is an active volunteer with a number of civic organizations. Rob was awarded the Call to Service Award from President Barack Obama in honor of his lifetime of volunteer service. About This Event
