Summary and Learning Objectives

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and deal effectively with your own and others’ emotions. Forty years of research shows that “EQ” is a predictor of career and life effectiveness, and drives up to 80% of workplace success. People with high EQ do better because they gain cooperation from others and use both IQ and intuitive knowledge (“gut”) to make decisions and solve problems. EQ is a vital ability for implementing change, negotiating agreements and leading high-performing teams.

In this session, after a brief overview of the topic, we will do a quick EQ experiment and a 15-question self-assessment, followed by short breakout discussions. The purpose will be to generate ideas for our own personal and professional growth as well as that of our clients.
