    About This Event

Neurodivergent learners must navigate a world established for those with neurotypical cognitive processing. This results in learners who have tremendous potential but feel as though they are inadequate due to their differences. However, research provides a strong body of evidence indicating that neurodivergent learners have remarkable abilities and can often provide innovations and insights that surpass those of their neurotypical counterparts. This workshop offers a strengths-based approach to designing educational experiences for neurodivergent learners.

        Summary and Learning Objectives

There is no question that dramatic change is coming very quickly to the workplace as a result of the integration of AI. AI will bring vast improvements in productivity, freedom from boring repetitive work and improved quality of life. The idea that an entire occupation will be replaced by AI is probably overstated. Certain activities within occupations may be automated and the result may cause the entire business process to be transformed. In the United States this translates to about two trillion dollars in annual wages. Even professionals like physicians, financial managers, CFOs, CEOs and senior executives have parts of the job that can be automated.

Companies will be leaner and have less hierarchy because every person between decisions and decision makers’ costs money. The impact on the organization of work will depend not so much on physical versus cognitive tasks, but rather on routine versus non routine work. The impact of AI on occupations from retail sales people, to food and beverages servers, to teachers and healthcare practitioners will be significant. Research suggest that nearly 45% of activities performed in the workplace can be automated. Although less than 5% of all occupations will be fully automated, the influence on business and the workplace in general will be enormous.

It will be Learning and Development’s responsibility to update or repurpose the work force. The shift in focus will be toward work of higher value. These shifts will not be without challenges. Talent development will have the opportunity to create new processes, applications and solutions as technologies change the roles and interactions of employees.

            Summary and Learning Objectives

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and deal effectively with your own and others’ emotions. Forty years of research shows that “EQ” is a predictor of career and life effectiveness, and drives up to 80% of workplace success. People with high EQ do better because they gain cooperation from others and use both IQ and intuitive knowledge (“gut”) to make decisions and solve problems. EQ is a vital ability for implementing change, negotiating agreements and leading high-performing teams.

In this session, after a brief overview of the topic, we will do a quick EQ experiment and a 15-question self-assessment, followed by short breakout discussions. The purpose will be to generate ideas for our own personal and professional growth as well as that of our clients.
